Seagrove Kitchen
A working kitchen rebuilt around light, a long island, and materials that can take a full house in July.
The existing kitchen turned its back on the porch and offered one mean stretch of counter. We opened the wall, centered a honed quartzite island on the view, and rebuilt the millwork in white oak so the room could take a crowd without looking like a showroom.
A plaster hood, unlacquered brass, and linen shades keep the palette quiet. The appliance package is placed so kids and guests can get a drink without walking through the cook.
